Spring chorus concert a success
(Milledgeville) 鈥� The Georgia Military College spring chorus鈥� May 27 concert promised to be a night of excitement and entertainment.
The group of musicians and their director, Moona Yu, delivered.
鈥淚 am extremely proud of the junior college chorus,鈥� said Yu. 鈥淣one of these students major in music. Only a few of them can read music. But who cares? They can sing, and they can bring the audience up to the level where only music can communicate.鈥�
The chorus performed a wide variety of musical pieces, starting with 鈥淛oyful Alleluia Canon鈥� and 鈥淭he Wayfaring Stranger,鈥� with a moving solo by Frederick Douglas.
鈥淓ven though we sang 鈥楾he Wayfaring Stranger,鈥� which is a kind of depressing and sad song, the energy was there,鈥� said Yu. 鈥淚 loved it.鈥�
The ladies鈥� ensemble followed with 鈥淧ut a Little Love in Your Heart,鈥� and the men鈥檚 ensemble performed 鈥淰iva La Vida.鈥� 鈥淏ridge Over Troubled Water鈥� was highlighted by a solo from Joshua Cotton, and Walter Reynolds, John Nuttall, and Gregory May brought Andrew Lloyd Webber鈥檚 鈥淎 Concert Celebration鈥� to life.
The show closed with the GMC alma mater and 鈥淕od Bless America.鈥�
鈥淥verall, I was very pleased,鈥� said Yu. 鈥淭he audience felt and experienced what we were trying to present on the stage. Through the performance, I have experienced that music still works today.鈥�
