Georgia Military College signs articulation agreement with Columbus State University
Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell IV, president of Georgia Military College (GMC), joined Dr. Timothy Mescon, president of Columbus State University (CSU), on February 21st to sign an articulation agreement that will allow GMC students to apply their associate degree credits toward CSU baccalaureate degrees. GMC students will be able to transfer degree credits without losing credit hours, providing a more seamless transition to CSU. 鈥溌槎怪辈� is a liberal arts-based, two-year college. Although we serve 250 ROTC cadets (at the Milledgeville Campus), the vast majority of our students are typical community college students. GMC has nine campuses throughout the state and serves about 12,000 students annually, many of whom go on to pursue baccalaureate degrees at four-year colleges and universities,鈥� Lt. Gen. Caldwell noted. 鈥淐SU offers significant opportunities for our students to further their education.鈥� The agreement details more than 120 different courses that will count as academic credit toward a degree at either school. This kind of articulation agreement makes it easier for students to transfer their credits toward a four-year degree. 鈥淥ur partnership with Georgia Military College is incredibly important and valuable to us,鈥滳olumbus State University President Tim Mescon said before signing the agreement last week. He said GMC-Columbus has been a conduit for many majors at Columbus State, especially into CSU’sonline RN-to-BSN degree. Lt. Gen. Caldwell also noted that, 鈥淕MC holds articulation agreements with a number of colleges and universities in Georgia, and will continue to pursue agreements with University System of Georgia colleges and universities in order to support Governor Nathan Deal鈥檚 Complete College Georgia initiative, as well as to support Georgia Military College graduates wanting to pursue baccalaureate degrees.鈥� Pictured: (L to R – seated): Dr. Timothy Mescon, President CSU; LtGen William B.
